LOCKDOWN PICS
A selection of my series of cartoons published (almost) daily during the COVID-19 lockdowns, 2020-2021. On Day One of the first lockdown I tasked myself with the challenge of doing a drawing a day.
Initially the intention was to produce any kind of drawing, whether a still life sketch or a collage-based item, but quickly it became clear that my love of cartoon illustration led me to engage in a daily cartoon chronicling the lockdown experience, which I uploaded to the internet each evening. Much of the subject matter was inspired by the news of the day that I put pencil to pad, so they made for an interesting reminder of unfolding events.
The clapping animations were uploaded every Thursday in time for the mass appreciation of our emergency services and key workers, along with a static version of the same image.
